HABLO ESPANOL
On many occasions, clients have told me that I massage as if I have many years as a massage therapist. They expect me to say I have been a therapist for 10 years or longer. When the truth is that I have been practicing for 4 years. That reason is because I stay curious, continue learning different massage styles, and I love getting creative with all my education and training.
I have experience working in 2 type of massage environments - relaxing spa & chiropractic office - working on specific problems.
Relaxing spa: I currently work at luxurious resort spas which include Marriott World Center, Cypress Marriott, and Grand Bohemian Orlando. I am also at a separate spa called Allora Day Spa. Prior to these, I worked at 2 other spas in the past.
Chiropractic Office: I have worked at 6 chiropractic/medical offices which include Pavlik Center for Health and Wellness & SouthPark Chiropractic. I currently work at In Motion Chiropractic
I have more training with medical massage than relaxing massage. I have trained with not only fellow massage therapists, but with chiropractors, occupational therapist and physical therapists. I can give you an assessment of your structure which goes along with your muscular system - with that knowledge, you will become more aware of your body needs. That is why I consider myself more than a massage therapist, but a bodyworker-- a professional who uses techniques practiced by different health professionals ( MD, PT, OT, DO, MT, etc.) to help to treat the body. These techniques goes beyond "rubbing" or what massage is portrayed as.
It's common for massage therapists to stick to one environment which goes along with the type of massage technique. Usually, therapist stay in the spa industry dedicated to doing only relaxing massage or remain in the medical field working with other health professionals doing only medical/therapeutic massage. It's not often that you find a therapist from both worlds.
